PROM NIGHT, November 2025
A prom-inspired event where the menu became a contemporary reinterpretation of 1970s classics — nostalgic forms rebuilt with lighter textures, global flavours, and a playful softness. The evening drew on the dreamy, slightly surreal aesthetic of the decade: hazy colour palettes, retro shapes, and the sweet awkwardness of a school-dance fantasy.
Each dish echoed a familiar memory from the era — Jell-O, devilled eggs, cabbage rolls, cocktail sliders — but transformed through a modern lens. Clean, bright flavours replaced heaviness; pastel tones and delicate finishes softened the retro silhouettes.
The cake became the centrepiece of this mood: a hōjicha carrot cake dressed in silver and gold, with gentle pastel piping — a quiet homage to the dramatic, decorated cakes of the 70s, reimagined with subtlety and warmth.
The menu acted as an edible extension of the concept: a conversation between past and present, where comfort met elegance. A sensory journey through reimagined nostalgia — light, textural, and a little bit cinematic..
